Residential moves are done on an hourly basis when they are local and by weight for long distance moves. The busiest times of the month are the last five (5) days and the first five (5) days. If you are considering a move during those busy times of the month, it is a good idea to book your mover at least two (2) weeks in advance. When you schedule your move with the moving company, be sure to reserve any necessary elevator time as there will probably be several other people trying to move in or out at the same time that you will be moving.
