Did you know that Chicago has a reputation as one of the most haunted cities in America? It is due to the high amount of paranormal activity that’s been reported around these parts. We all know once a famous place gets momentum about being haunted, it is great PR for them going forward. That doesn’t mean the stories are not true… I am just saying!
If Chicago is quite haunted, there is a chance you might accidentally move into a haunted house. I didn’t say a high probability, but there is a chance. How do you know the house is haunted? What do you do once you know? Here are a few tips to help you identify the spirits are around and how to handle it once you realize.
How to identify the haunting in your new home:
You’ve started living in your new home and you have a tingling feeling up and down your spine at certain times, and/or in certain locations of your house. Do you hear strange noises such as footsteps around the house where no one is at? Maybe your lights flicker when there should be no reason for them to. One of the most common occurrences is seeing shadows in your peripheral view. A face to face encounter can be legitimately frightening, yet less likely to happen to you versus some of the other phenomena.
Your new house is haunted, now what?
First thing you should do is call Mid-West Moving & Storage back out to your house to load your personal belongings and leave the premises for good. But if you are so inclined to hang in there, here are a few tips to handle the haunting:
- Use a sage smudge stick as soon as possible to cleanse the house of bad juju.
- Try to listen to what the spirit may want to communicate. Maybe, just maybe, you can help them with “something”. Fulfilling their needs may equate to them leaving your house or leaving you alone, at least. Try not to be afraid, that is exactly what they want. If you feed into the fear they may continue to taunt and haunt you.
Your sellers may not be upfront with the knowledge of their spirit based roommates. So, if the house is too good to be true, you might want to try and take a deeper look at why.
